Obituary

Ada V. Allen, age 93, of McPherson County and North Platte, died October 7, 2012 at the Sutherland Care Center. She was born on August 20, 1919 in McPherson County to Herbert and Mary (Harvey) Miller. Ada went to grade school through the 5th grade in a one-room schoolhouse, and graduated from McPherson County High School in 1936. After graduation, Ada attended Bible College for one year in Iowa.
On December 20, 1937, she married Chester Lee Allen in Julesburg, CO. The couple lived in Tryon for 19 years, and then Miltonvale, KS for 15 years, then moved to North Platte. In North Platte, Ada worked for Wal-Mart for 10 years, retiring in 2000. Ada was a member of the Parkview Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include a son, Fredrick Allen of Holden, MO; a brother, Wilbur Allen of Stapleton; daughter-in-law Debra Allen of North Platte; a sister-in-law, Ruth Allen of North Platte, four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; numerous great-great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Chester; a son, Gary; two brothers, Lloyd Miller and Eldon Allen; three sisters, Leola Allen, Bernice Magnuson, and Dorothy Grimes; a daughter-in-law, Gayle Allen; one grandson, and two granddaughters. A memorial has been established to the Parkview Church of the Nazarene and online condolences can be made at www.adamsswanson.com.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday October 10, 2012 at the Parkview Church of the Nazarene with Darold Miller officiating. Burial will be at Miller Cemetery near Tryon. Visitation will be today from 12:00 until 9:00 p.m. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
