Alice Elaine (Osterman) O'Donnell passed away peacefully at her home in North Platte Nebraska on May 29, 2020. She was 74 years old.

Elaine was born on June 12, 1945 to Walter Nile Osterman and Doris Lucille (DeLong) Osterman in Valentine Nebraska. Her parents lovingly nicknamed her "Sis" and called her that as long as they were alive. She joined a brother who was five years older than her, Nile Walter whose nickname was "Sonny".

On June 2, 1962 Elaine was united in marriage to John Patrick O'Donnell at the Calvary Episcopal Church in Hyannis, Nebraska. To this union two children were born: Patricia Ann (Patti) and Patrick Harry (Pat). Their early marriage was spent on a ranch south of Whitman Nebraska where Elaine was a ranch wife and mother while dabbling a little in the sales world of Avon cosmetics. When they moved from the ranch to Valentine Nebraska Elaine learned there was a nursing program at Sinte Gleska University. It had been her lifelong dream to be a nurse. She fulfilled this dream by receiving her R.N. degree and went on to work at the Cherry County Hospital and Pine View Good Samaritan Nursing home in Valentine.   An opportunity to advance her career was presented to her by the State of Nebraska Nursing Department so she and John moved to North Platte Nebraska. For the remainder of her career she was proud to be a State Surveyor for the Nursing homes, Assisted Living Centers as well as a tester for nursing students after they had finished their training in the panhandle of Nebraska. She held this position with great pride for 25 years until her retirement.

After John passed away Elaine was lucky enough to find a second loving and caring companion in Jerry Wright who she spent the last 29 years of her life with.

Elaine is survived by her two children: Patricia Duffy (Dan), Winner, SD and Patrick O'Donnell (Marilyn), Oskaloosa, Ks.   Six grandchildren: Samantha Cable (Aaron), Rapid City SD; Danee' Bricker (Ryan), Evergreen, Colo; Brittany Chaplin, Lawrence Ks; LaRissa Bertram (Brady) Watford City ND; Casey O'Donnell (Emily), Denver Colo and Skyler Best (Tanner), Winner, SD. Five great grandchildren: Dieter Bricker, Slade, Franki Grace and Porter Bertram and Saylor Best and her loving companion and partner Jerry Wright, as well as many other relatives too numerous to mention.

She was preceded in death by her father Walter Nile Osterman, her mother Doris Lucille (DeLong) Osterman, her husband John P. O'Donnell, her grandson John Patrick O'Donnell, her brother Nile Walter Osterman, and her grandparents Fredrick Charles (Charlie) Osterman, Elsie (Blank) Osterman, James Royal (Roy) DeLong and Clara Edith (Jackson) DeLong.
