Allyn L. Chambers, age 79 of Ogallala, passed away August 15, 2012 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.
Allyn was born September 24, 1932, in Elwood, the son of Clyde and Doris Rhinehart Wareham. He graduated from Gothenburg High School with the class of 1951. He attended Kearney State Teachers College and graduated with a B.A. in Education. Allyn served in the US Army, being stationed in Germany for a majority of his enlistment. He taught high school and junior high school. Allyn also coached football, basketball and track. In 1979 he began working for the Department of Agriculture as a Food Inspector. On September 7, 1989 Allyn married Connie Anderson. He retired from the State in 1994, but held numerous jobs after his retirement.
Allyn was a member of the Ogallala Moose Club and attended Martin Bay Community Church. He loved deer hunting, fishing and going out on the lake. He also enjoyed gardening and traveling to casinos. His pride and joy was his family, especially his grandchildren.
Allyn is survived by his wife Connie of Ogallala; 6 sons Jeff (Kathy) Chambers of Mankato, MN, Jim (Shawnda) Chambers of Independence, KS, Todd Chambers of North Platte, NE, Mark (Wendy) Chambers of Evans, CO, Ty Anderson of Ogallala, Treg Anderson of Ft. Collins, CO; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda.
A memorial has been established and online condolences may be made at www.adamswanson.com. A family-led memorial service will be held Monday August 20, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. MT at Martin Bay Community Church in Keystone, with the Reverend Duane Dunwoody officiating. Inurnment will follow at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. CT (2:00 MT) with military honors graveside. Adams and Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
