IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ann Louise
Gamble
August 5, 1938 – September 22, 2020
Ann Louise Johnson Welch Gamble, age 82, died on September 22, 2020 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, Nebraska from complications of Alzheimer's Disease.
Ann was always surrounded by her friends and she made friends easily. No matter where she lived, her home was always warm, inviting, and full of people she loved and cared about. She was fiercely loyal to friends and family alike.
Ann loved to dance and as a young woman, she worked in New York and Pennsylvania for Arthur Murry Dance Studios as a dance instructor and for Fred Astaire Studios in Tampa, Florida. In her later years she attended dances whenever and wherever she could. On several occasions, when she was in the hospital for minor surgeries or tests, it wasn't unusual to see her in the corridor outside her room teaching all the nurses and nursing assistants to dance.
She loved animals of all kinds and always had them around her. Dogs were a particular favorite, Dobermans and Dachshunds in particular and she had many of both breeds over the years. She used to say that you hadn't really lived until you had been owned by a Dachshund, to which many a Dachshund owner will agree.
Ann touched the lives of so many people and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Ann is survived by her sister, Margaret "Maggi" Welch of North Platte; brother, David Welch of Pahrump, Nevada; cousins, Linda Greely of North Platte, Don (Rosemary) Johnson of North Platte, Walt (Cindy) Johnson of North Platte, Ruthann (Bill) Boyles of North Platte, Marymay Seery of North Platte; numerous other cousins and friends; and by her chihuahua Tati.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Gamble; her parents, Hans C. and Kathryn Kirk Johnson; maternal grandparents Lisle and Leah Adele Kirk; son, Robert "Rob" Gamble Jr.; and her lifelong best friend El Wanda Rhodes.
