Arthur (Art) Leon Kramer, 64, of Stapleton, Nebraska passed away Friday, July 3, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in North Platte, Nebraska to Robert and Hazel (Small) Kramer. Art was raised on the family farm southwest of Stapleton, Nebraska. Art attended school at Stapleton, graduating in 1979, and continued his education at Mid-Plains Community College receiving a degree in Agriculture. He worked on a ranch by Brownlee, Nebraska and returned to Stapleton to work at the Logan County Coop and also East Side Services. Art then went back to help at the family farm where he continued to work until his passing.
On October 7, 1983, Arthur married the love of his life, Becky Kay Melvin. Together they raised 3 children, A.J., Darcie, and Jennifer. Art belonged to several clubs and organizations, St. John’s Catholic Church, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Eagles Club, and the Moose. He was also volunteer fireman for 26 years and an EMT for 22 years.
He had many hobbies like, playing pool, shooting darts and bowling, but his favorites were trap shooting, hunting, fishing and collecting tractors of all sizes. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His avid card shark skills also allowed him to teach not only his children but also his grandchildren to play cards.
Survivors of Arthur include his children, A.J. Kramer, Darcie (Heath) Krauter, Jennifer (Roman) Reyes; grandchildren, Madison Eggleston (Michael Jenkins), Lindsay Newman, (Kolter Rahn), Natalie Newman, Koy Kramer, Colby Hubert, Bill Kramer; great-grandchildren, Remington Rahn, Maci Jenkins; siblings, Dan (Kristy) Kramer, Alvin Kramer (Peggy Wermers), Rolland (Jan) Kramer, Marie (Layne) Pyzer, Mike (Peggy) Fox, Steve (Alice) Paul, Darwin Paul, Brenda Monroe; siblings-in-law, Jack (Jodi) Arensdorf, Charlene (Stanley) Freeman, Donna (Steve) Wright, Travis (Jennifer) Melvin, Brad Halcott, Shane Halcott; sisters-in-law, Denise Melvin and Donna Melvin.
Those that preceded him in death include his parents, Robert and Hazel Kramer, and Doris Kramer; wife, Becky Kramer; sister, Aneta Engel; parents-in-aw Bill and Anna Melvin; brother-in-law, Jason Melvin; sister-in-law, Darlene Melvin.
Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 10, 2026 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, North Platte. Visitation will be from noon – 5:00 with Rosary at 7:00, Thursday, July 9 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at St. John’s Cemetery, Stapleton, Nebraska. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
