Barbara Jean Edmonds, 80, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away March 1, 2025 at North Platte Care Center.  She was born on February 17, 1945, to Elmer and Margaret (Grooms) Smith in Nemaha, Nebraska.

Barbara grew up in Nemaha, Nebraska and graduated from Nemaha High School with the class of 1963.  She was united in marriage to Paul Edmonds and to this union, a daughter Deanna was born.  While living in Nemaha, Barbara worked as a seamstress at the sewing factory in Auburn, Nebraska.  In the early 1980's she began working at Peru State College in the custodial department and worked there until the late 1990's.  Before she retired, Barbara worked for Region 5 as a caregiver in Auburn, Nebraska.  In 2022, she moved to North Platte to be closer to her family.  Barbara will be remembered for her giggles.  She enjoyed listening to bands, dancing, and crocheting.  She loved her family, especially her grandson, Ryan Pennington.

Survivors include her daughter, Deanna (Ed Knotts) Pennington, North Platte, Nebraska; grandson, Ryan Pennington, South Sioux City, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Sylvia Smith, San Antonio, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Margaret; brothers, Harold Smith, Donald Smith, Edward (Joan) Smith.
