Bernadine (Brehmer) Kenton Hiner, 97, of Hershey, passed away October 5, 2025 at Great Plains Health. She was born in Wisner, NE to Fred and Lydia (Brand) Brehmer on July 27, 1928.
Bernadine graduated from Wisner High School with the class of 1945 and moved to North Platte in 1946. She worked for a period of time at Memorial Hospital and Davis Pharmacy. On April 7, 1947 she married Ray Kenton of Hershey, NE in Denver, CO. He preceded her in death on November 22, 1998. They had one daughter, Connie (Art) Coutcher and one son Norman (Shari) Kenton. Bernadine married Dean Hiner on March 11, 2007 and he passed away on November 15, 2019.
After raising her children, she went to work for Thomas Agency, Fleecs Brothers, and Sutherland Public Schools before retiring. After retiring, she worked for Saxton Fruit Stand for several years. Bernadine was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and Legion Auxiliary for over 70 years. She enjoyed sewing, playing cards, and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, eight brothers, and three sisters.
Survivors include daughter, Connie (Art) Coutcher; son, Norman (Shari) Kenton; grandson, Arthur Kenton "Kenny" Coutcher; numerous other family members and many friends.
Memorials are suggested to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com.
Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 17, 2025 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Reverend Daniel Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Visitation will be held noon-7:00 P.M., Thursday, October 16, 2025 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
