Beth grew up in Pierce, Nebraska, being baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce. She attended public school in Pierce, graduating from Pierce High School in 1963. Beth was an outstanding student who excelled academically. She received many awards, including consistent member of the honor roll, selected to the National Honor Society, elected President of the '63 class and was chosen Valedictorian her senior year.
