Betty Jane Brogdon, age 86, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 22, 2025, at North Platte Care Center.

Betty was born April 19, 1939, in Fort Collins, Colorado, to Louis and Amelia Herder.

Betty grew up in Colorado, where she met the love of her life, Harlin Brogdon. They were wed on December 22, 1954, and spent nearly 58 years together before Harlin's passing in 2012. To this union was born their beloved children Linda, James, Louis, Gary, and Karan. Betty took great pride in her role as a homemaker. She kept a tidy house and cherished spending time with her children and later on her grandchildren. In 1963, her family moved to North Platte, where she enjoyed the rest of her life. She was a lover of nature, always tending to the flowers in her garden and could often be found enjoying the great outdoors on a camping trip. She was also fond of games, particularly bingo, cards, and puzzles.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children Linda (Kenneth) Dancer, James Brogdon, Louis (Colette) Brogdon, Gary Brogdon, and Karan Erickson; grandchildren Brian, Kevin, and Micheal Dancer, Maui, Leslie, Melissa, and Allison Brogdon, and Alexis Erickson; several great-grandchildren; and many more family and friends whose lives she touched.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband Harlin; parents Louis and Amelia; twin-brother Robert Herder; half-siblings Leona Herder, Ruben Herder, Albert Herder, Elizabeth Schopp, Hilda Geringer, Delores (Marvin) Snyder, Donald (Laurie) Herder, Marie (Walter) Sternenberger, Emma (John) Lesser, Esther (Sam) Cook, Maria Ehrlick, and Amelia Maul; and step-siblings Mary Herder, Lydia Herder, Rosie Herder, Pete Harkalis, William Harkalis, and Helen Herder.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 3, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home with Chaplain Ned Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Fort McPherson at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 2, 2025 from noon to 5 p.m. at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, which has been entrusted with arrangements.
