Obituary

Betty Lucille Vasquez, 85, of North Platte died January 18, 2021, at Great Plains Health. Betty was born to George and Irene (Hayes) Boyer, on August 23, 1935, in Hebron, NE.

Betty lived in Brule before moving to Sutherland, NE. She graduated with the class of 1953 from Sutherland High School. Right after graduation on June 4, 1953, Betty married Phillip Vasquez in North Platte, NE. To this union three children were born; Phillip Jr., Lew and Josephine.

Betty worked at the Co-op Café in Sutherland, then the family moved to North Platte in 1975. She earned her LPN degree at Mid Plains Community College and worked at St. Mary's Hospital and loved being a caregiver. Later she continued on to be the Librarian at St. Patrick's Catholic School, retiring from the school in early 2000.

Her hobbies included; playing cards, crossword puzzles, crocheting, she was very family oriented and loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was known as an excellent cook.

Survivors include; 2 children, Lew Sr. (Julie) Vasquez of Paxton, and Josephine (James) Beranek of North Platte; 3 grandchildren, Jason (Tia) Vasquez of Cleveland, OH, Lew Jr. (Joann) Vasquez of Paxton, and Justin (Jamie) Vasquez of Topeka, KS; 8 great-grandchildren, Mary, Sara, Emma, Caden, Keeley, Reece, Miley, and Micha; a sister; Irene Simpson, brother; Lloyd Boyer; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; Phillip, son; Phillip Jr.; grandchildren, Jared and Janet Beranek; brother, William Boyer; sister-in-laws, Ruby Vasquez, Marlene Boyer and Joyce Boyer; brother-in-law, Robert Simpson.

Memorials are suggested to the family for a later designation.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 22, 2021 at St. Pat's Catholic Church with the Reverend Bryan Ernest as celebrant. Inurnment will be at Riverview Cemetery near Sutherland. Christian Wake Services will be at 7:00 P.M., Thursday, January 21, 2021 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Register book signing will be Thursday, January 21, from 9-5 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.

The service will also be livestreamed via Adams and Swanson Funeral Home Facebook page for those unable to attend in person. Online condolences and sharing of memories can be made at www.adamsswanson.com Adams and Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

CDC Covid 19 guidelines will be respected and therefore social distancing and wearing a mask is required per the family request.
