Obituary

Byron D. Bandy, 72, of North Platte died on January 3, 2021, at his home with his family by his side. Bryon was born January 09, 1948 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Everett Lightfoot and JoAnn (Addington) Lightfoot. Byron lived in Shreveport for 17 years. He was a member of the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. He moved to Omaha, Nebraska and then to North Platte. In 1978 he married Barbara Griffin and to this union 5 children were born, Jennifer, Jessica, Byron Jr., James, and Jacquelyn. Byron worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 37 years, as a boiler-maker and carman, retiring in 2008.

Byron was a member of the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and motorcycles, also enjoyed rebuilding cars and restoration of antiques.

Survivors include his wife; Barbara, children; Jennifer (Steven) Romans, Bryon Jr. (Kera) Bandy, James (Kayla) Bandy and Jacquelyn (Kyle) Martin, grandchildren; Gage Romans, Britni, Hallee, Griffin Bandy, Ryleigh, Derrick, Dakota Bandy, Abigail, Natalie Martin, sisters; Crystal (Noel) Thomas, Tamara (Marcus) Cardenas, Cynthia Bandy and Sharon (Donald) Chase, along with many other family members and friends.   Byron was preceded in death by his parents Everett and JoAnn and a daughter Jessica.

Memorials are suggested to Pheasants Forever or the American Cancer Society.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Reverend Daniel Ramsey officiating. Visitation will be noon to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 6, 2021 with family receiving friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M., at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements. Graveside services will be 1:00 P.M., Friday, January 8, 2021, at St. John's Cemetery, Bellevue, Nebraska, with Reverend Fred Simon officiating. The service will be livestreamed on the Adams & Swanson Facebook page for those unable to attend. CDC-Covid 19 guidelines will be respected and therefore social distancing and wearing masks are required.
