Carolyn L. Mueller, age 73 of Sutherland, passed away February 7, 2014.
Carolyn was born on July 17, 1940 in Lewellen, NE to Marvin and Edna (Grasz) Courter. She grew up in Keystone and married Lawrence L. Mueller on February 28, 1958. The couple moved to their family ranch north of Sutherland and made a life there until 2001. She was an adopted grandma volunteer at the Sutherland School for many years and enjoyed many things including gardening, feeding the birds and collecting chicken and kitten figurines. She enjoyed yard sale-ing with her sister Francis and following her grandchildren's rodeo and fair events. She was renowned for her pumpkin pies, breads and "grandma's" cooking.
Carolyn is survived by her children Lawrence "Buck" (Jane) Mueller of Gothenburg, Marvin (Janet) Mueller of Sutherland, Charlie Mueller of Sutherland and Connie (Russell) Barnum of Stapleton; 7 grandchildren Ben (Mandy) Mueller of Adams, NE, Levi Mueller of Gillette, WY, Lydsey Mueller of Gothenburg, Brandi Mueller of Joliet, IL, BoDelle Mueller of Sutherland, Bronc (Shannon) Barnum of Torrington, WY and Clancey Barnum of Stapleton; 2 great grandchildren Hailey Phroper and Riley O'Brien; siblings Nancy Waterman of Ogallala, Francis Pace of North Platte and Frank Courter of Lewellen; and numerous other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lawrence; granddaughter Brittany Mueller, and brother Ernest Courter.
Memorials may be made to the Sutherland Care Center, Sutherland American Legion Hall or the Sutherland Rural Fire Department and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday February 14, 2014 at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home with Pastor Duane Dunwoody presiding. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
