Obituary

Charles Dean Henderson, Sr., 87, of North Platte, passed away September 30, 2021 in Burwell, Nebraska at Community Memorial Health Center.  He was born June 5, 1934 to Clyde and Viola (Eckerley) Henderson, Marysville, Kansas.

Charles childhood was spent in Kansas.  He served in the United States Army from 1953 – 1956.  On August 10, 1957 he married LaVay E. (Hergenroder) in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1988 Charles was transferred to North Platte with the Union Pacific Railroad as an electrician.  He retired after 47 years of service.  Charles was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, he enjoyed his guns, horses and loved to watch western movies.

Charles is survived by his children, Chuck (Jeanie) Henderson Jr., Omaha, Nebraska, Terri Jensen, North Platte, and John (Shelly) Henderson, Ashland, Nebraska and Tony (Jennifer) Henderson, North Platte; grandchildren, Becky Henderson, Valerie(Jessica) Henderson, David (Sara Meloccaro) Henderson, Patrick (Chelsea) Jensen, Jonathan (fiance, Amber) Henderson, Jessica (Kevin) Grimm, Kendall (Kaleb) King, Klair (Noah) Anderson, and Anthony Martinez; great-grandchildren, Layla Gail, LaVay Jensen, Caiden Meloccaro, Kaisen King, Krayten Anderson, Ainsley Grimm, and Rylie Henderson; brother, Ted Henderson, and other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Viola Henderson; his wife LaVay Henderson; son, Steve Henderson; and sister LouAnn Oehm.

Memorials are suggested to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 15, 2021 at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home with Pastor Patrick Sipes officiating.  Inurnment will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery with Military Honors.  Book signing will be 9 – 5, Thursday, October 14.
