Dale Melvin Lake, age 72, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away August 10, 2026.

Dale was born in North Platte to Timothy Melvin Lake and Mary Lou (Rundback) Lake on January 7, 1954. He grew up at his family’s ranch in Tryon. There he graduated from McPherson County High School in 1972. As a young man, Dale worked for numerous ranchers before moving on to work at Bob Stone Sanitation for 18 years. He then transitioned to work for the City of North Platte for another 19 years, before “retiring” for 5 years while he worked part time for Level LLC.

Dale loved raising cattle and loved the ranch. He loved traveling on the motorcycle seeing God’s country. His biggest highlight was his 40th anniversary ride to the East Coast! Dale was part of the American Legion Riders Post 163, Nation of Patriots Flag Tour, and the Patriot Guard Riders. He was a big Husker fan and a fan of Allis Chalmers and John Wayne.

On January 8th, 1983, Dale married the love of his life Tammy Stone (Lake) in North Platte. In her words, “We were soulmates. We worked, played, and argued side by side.” To their union, 3 children were born: Suzi Lake of North Platte, Melvin Lake (and his fiancé/soulmate Jamie Nix) of North Platte, and Joney Lake (and his wife Jodi Lake) of Reddick, FL. Other family left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren Lydia Jarmin, Mayson Lake, Analiese Nix, and Levy Nix; adopted daughter and son Angie and Brian Blagdon; adopted grandchildren Austin Blagdon (and fiancé Savanna Wolford); sisters Bonnie (Melvin) Kets and Connie Glebe; sister-in-law Laura Cherry of Oklahoma City; brother-in-law Mark Stone of Ogallala; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and friends. Dale’s family, wife, children, and grandchildren were the light of his life.

Dale is preceded in death by parents, Timothy Melvin and Mary Lou (Rundback) Lake, in-laws Bob and Sonja Stone (Lunkwitz), sister Judy Patterson, grandparents, sister-in-law Ranee Stone, and numerous aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 28, 2026 at the North Platte Berean Church. Lunch will follow the service. Following lunch burial will be at the Miller Cemetery, Tryon, Nebraska. Visitation will be noon - 7, with family receiving friends from 5-7, Thursday, August 27 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
