Obituary

David Paul Ambrose, 51, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away at his home on May 28, 2023.  David was born October 11th, 1971, in Kansas City, Missouri to Harold and Mathel (Mayo) Ambrose.

Dave attended grade school in New Franklin, Missouri. As a young boy, he spent his summers hunting, fishing with his father, and helping on his grandparents' farm. In 1983, David and his family moved to South Dakota and lived on the Pine Ridge. He attended high school at the Sunshine Bible Academy close to Miller, South Dakota and spent his high school summers working on a ranch. David attended his first college year in Kansas followed by his second year at the School of Minds in South Dakota. While working at a boot repair shop in Rapid City, David met Wendy Ann Robbins and they started dating in 1992. When he picked Wendy up for their first date, Wendy's father was sitting at the table cleaning his shotgun, but Dave did not let that intimidate him.  They were married May 28th, 1993 and lived in Rapid City until David finished college.  The couple then moved to Greeley, Colorado where he worked as a well repairman. Dave joined the Colorado national guard. On June 3, 1994, their daughter, Nellie Maye Ambrose was born. Dave started driving semi-trucks over the road and due to this, the family moved to Rushville.  It wasn't long before Dave found out that his runs did not bring him close to home so they moved to North Platte, Nebraska. In 2011, Dave started working at FedEx freight until medical issues caused his early retirement. Dave succumbed to his cancer at his home, surrounded by family and friends. He had a passion for hunting, fishing and working on older vehicles.

Dave is survived by his wife, Wendy Ambrose; daughter and son in law, Nellie (Zac) Blair; his granddaughter, Annabell; his parents, Harold and Mathel Ambrose; brothers, Jonathan (Angie) and Mark Ambrose.
