IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Debbi Jo
Simpson
August 1, 1957 – March 15, 2025
Debbi "Deb" Jo Simpson, a fiercely loyal wife, mother, sister, and cherished grandmother, peacefully passed away on March 15, 2025, at the age of 67, at her home in North Platte, surrounded by her devoted family, after a second courageous battle with cancer; the first battle being won in 1998 against breast cancer.
Deb was born at St. Mary's Hospital in North Platte, Nebraska, on August 1st, 1957. Growing up in the Sandhills, she helped in the hayfields every summer until she graduated from Mullen Public School in 1975. Deb moved to North Platte soon after graduation and worked a few different jobs before finding her "place" at Coors Distributing in 1977, where she established lifelong relationships with the Haneborg family. Deb was a dedicated employee to the company, performing secretarial and bookkeeping work. She also helped with organizing and managing the registrations, schedules, awards, as well as many other tasks for CYS (Coors Youth Sports). The last several years, Deb committed her time to Kubota as well.
Deb was part of the Women's Bowling Association and was inducted into the bowling hall of fame in 2014. She was involved with the Sorority Beta Sigma Phi, was an Eagles member for over 30 years, and served on the PTA when her boys were in school. Deb always enjoyed planning exciting trips for her family and hosting Friday night family dinners, a time for the Simpson house to be loud and wild. She was a crafty woman and was dedicated to any project she had in front of her. She was an amazing and loyal friend and those in her life knew they could trust her. Deb's legacy of kindness and dedication will forever inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her; she will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Deb is survived by her true love and husband of 35 years, Stephen "Steve" Simpson; daughters, Stephanie Simpson (Fred Peters) of Sutherland, and Samantha Wallace (Mike) of Cheyenne, WY; twin sons, Shawn Simpson (Brooke) and Shane Simpson (Dani Chapman) both of North Platte; sister, Mary Haney of North Platte; sister-in-law, Vicki Simpson of North Platte; nephew, Chance Simpson of Lincoln; her 10 incredible grandchildren who she loved doing anything and everything for, Echo, Will, Olivia, Sophia, Aubrey, Orion, Vincent, Ariah, Hunter and Piper; Mr. & Mrs. William Haney; and her beloved pup, Tess.
She is preceded in death by her grandma, Mary Elizabeth Haney; grandfather, Richard Pounder; uncles, Chuck Johnson and Leroy Pounder; and her beloved aunt, Alice.
Services will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home with Pastor John Sexson as officiant. Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Luncheon reception will be held at the D & N Center, 501 E. Walker Road, North Platte, following the burial.
