IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dickie "Dick" Lee
Korn
November 6, 1947 – April 1, 2026
Dickie “Dick” Lee Korn, age 78, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Great Plains Health, making sure he had the first laugh on April Fools.
Dick was born in Grand Island, Nebraska, on November 6, 1947, to Lawerence and Glenna (Bottorf) Korn. His younger years were spent moving around Nebraska, growing up in and around York, Bradshaw, and Aurora. Finally, Dick moved to North Platte as a young man in 1980. There he began a career in maintenance, working for the Holiday Inn and the Cedar Bowl, finishing as the Head of Maintenance at both. During his time in North Platte, Dick met and married the love of his life, Charlotte Demilt. Dick continued working until his cancer diagnosis in 2023, where he retired to spend the rest of his life with his loved ones.
Dick will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, taking every chance he could to go hunting, camping, and fishing trips. He also enjoyed all forms of animals, but had a special place in his heart for his dogs. His dogs were always a part of the family and earned him the nickname “The Dog Whisperer.” His family also knew him as the originator of dad jokes, always putting the Korn in Korny. Though he was a bit of a jokester, he was serious about vehicles. He was an avid motorcyclist, taking his Harley on many rides and making it to Sturgis two years in a row before his health limited him. He was a big racing fan, watching and attending many Nascar races and participating in and welding cars for demolition derbies. But above all, his greatest passion was his family. He loved attending events for his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, always cheering them on in their wins and being there for them in their losses. His comforting presence will be missed by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Charlotte; sons Brad (Lynette) Korn, Jeff Korn, Aaron (Julie) Lewis, and Jason (Jen) Korn; grandchildren Lindsay Korn, Allison Korn, Elizabeth (Nick) Smith, and Savannah (Calvin) Davis, Krystal and Khloe Korn, Austin (Schuyler) and Mickaela Lewis, and Grover Korn; great-grandchildren Tucker and Sawyer Korn, and Ashilda and Clara Lewis; siblings Gary (Chris) Korn and Diane Hutchins; siblings-in-law Jim (Lila) Demilt, Steve (Deb) Demilt, and Debra Scott; and many more nieces and nephews, friends and family, and every animal he crossed on the street.
He is preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Glenna; brothers Randy and Terry Korn; parents-in-law Von and Cindy Demilt; and brothers-in-law Dwight and Mike Demilt.
