IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald "Don"
Leroy Albrecht
December 30, 1952 – December 17, 2024
Donald "Skinny" Albrecht, age 71, passed away on Dec. 17, 2024 at Great Plains Health surrounded by his children. He was born on Dec. 30, 1952 to Frank and Darlene (Glebe) Albrecht.
Skinny graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1971. While in High School, he met and then later married the love of his life, Beverly Ann Abel. He initially wanted to be a Veterinarian and briefly attended college in Manhatten, KS. He decided to return to North Platte, and married Beverly on Sept. 9, 1973. He worked for Cement Products until the decline of his health in 2017.
Don was a dedicated calf roper and passionate about all aspects of the sport. He spent many summer days pouring concrete, and then participating in the nightly rodeo out at Buffalo Bill Arena in the evenings. He traveled all over with his very dear friend, Clark Brown, roping calves, making friends, and being the life of the party. He excelled at telling tall tales, which got taller every time he told them. He was a master jokester, and enjoyed pulling off pranks on everyone from his kids, to the state inspectors that inspected his concrete work. He loved to host get togethers and really enjoyed grilling for his friends and family. He would give you the shirt off of his back and not even think twice about it. He had a memorable laugh and infectious smile. Skinny was a 30+ year Eagles member. He and Bev lived for the annual Mexican food feed, chili cook off's, green beer on St. Patty's Day, and watching movies and lighting the fire place on Christmas Day.
Survivors include his children; Edd (Jill) Albrecht, Amy (Jess) Phillips, and Kellie (Cameron) Ristine. Grandchildren: Dylan (Lindsey) Weeter, Bryce (Katie) Weeter, Ellie, Abbie, Emily, Eden and Avi May Albrecht and Brady and Piper Ristine. His mother, Darlene Albrecht, and siblings; Ruby (Larry) Earnshaw, Dan (Melanie) Albrecht, Joan (Tom) Steele, Marilyn (Michael) Rosenbaum, Jack (Trish) Albrecht. He is survived by many nieces and nephews, family, and close friends.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly and father, Frank.
In lieu of flowers Memorials are suggested in his memory. A decision as to where will be made later. Adam's and Swanson's funeral home will be handling the memorials.
