Donald Wayne Waits, 85, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away March 23, 2023 at North Platte Care Center in North Platte.  He was born November 8, 1937 to Elmore (Lee) and Darlene (Tupper) Waits in Tryon, Nebraska.

Wayne graduated from Tryon High School with the class of 1955.  He worked at the Pawnee Hotel and enjoyed that job for 18 years.  Then he went to work for Stone Sanitation for several years before working for the State of Nebraska on the striping crew and snow removal crew.  Wayne was very quiet but loved to talk about family and history.  He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews and was always good at remembering birthdays and anniversaries.  Wayne will always be remembered for giving every family member chocolate for Christmas.  He was always a good friend to everyone he knew.  Wayne enjoyed his trips to Alaska, Yellowstone and California.

He is survived by his 4 siblings; Vernon (Pauline) Waits, Tryon, Nebraska, Elnora (Terry) Neal, Tryon, Nebraska, Errol Waits, Omaha, Nebraska, Leora (Sonny) Smith, Lincoln, Nebraska; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, along with other family members and many friends.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, (Elmore) Lee and (Darlene) Waits; special friend, Rosella Murphy; niece, Misty Smith Luebbert.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, March 27, 2023 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home with Dan Connell officiating.  Visitation will be held noon – 6 P.M., Sunday with family receiving friends from 4 -6.  Burial will follow the service at Miller Cemetery in Tryon, Nebraska.  Adams & Swanson Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.
