Donald John Weskamp, 87, of North Platte, passed away April 10, 2023 at home.  He was born October 13, 1935 in a farmhouse near Danbury, NE, to Fred and Catherine (Vontz) Weskamp.

Donald graduated from McCook High School with the class of 1953.  He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1954 and Served in Newfoundland and Spokane, WA.  Donald was honorably discharged in 1957.

Donald married Judy Weiss on June 11, 1960 and they had three children, Brenda, Steve, and Mark.  He started his postal career in 1960 at McCook Post Office.  He drove his own rural route in Maywood in 1970.  They lived in Maywood from 1970-1975 and then moved to North Platte.  Donald retired in 1998.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, was a horse racing enthusiast, and was passionate about Husker sports. He was a devoted Catholic/member and parishioner at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church.

Survivors include daughter, Brenda Weskamp of Cave Creek, AZ; sons, Steve Weskamp of North Platte, Mark Weskamp of Cave Creek, AZ; sister, Mary Lou Harned of Tulsa, OK; brother, Ted Weskamp of Canon City, CO.

He was preceded in death by wife, Judy; sisters, Irene Lebsack, Ilene Porth, and Florence Modrell; brothers, Delbert Weskamp, Jim Weskamp, Bernard Weskamp, Leo Weskamp, and Mike Weskamp (Son).

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Reverend Jonathan Sorenson officiating.  Burial will be held 1:00 P.M. at Fort McPherson Cemetery near Maxwell.  Visitation will be held noon-7:00 P.M., with family present 5:00-7:00, Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
