Dorothy Jean (Weitzell) Bell, 88, of Tulsa, OK, mother of Deb (Dennis) Burkle of Lincoln, formerly of North Platte died Thursday, September 5, 2019, at Grace Living Center, under the care of Grace Hospice of Jenks, OK.
Dorothy, the daughter of Elmer and Clara Mohrfield Weitzell, was born February 7, 1931 at a relative's home in Tama, IA. She was active in 4-H and received several blue ribbons at the IA State Fair. She attended schools in Tama and graduated from there in 1948. On June 15, 1951, she was united in marriage to Donald Bell, her childhood sweetheart, at the Sheridan Methodist Church. To this union were born four children.
She enjoyed painting, reading, and interior decorating. She graduated from Rhema Bible College in Tulsa in 1991 with a degree in Helps Ministry. She later went on a mission trip to Guatemala. Dorothy lived in many communities in Iowa including New Hampton, Tipton, and Mt. Pleasant. Five years ago, she moved to Tulsa to be near her children.
Survivors include her brother, Bob Weitzell of Grinnell, IA; two daughters, Debbie (Dennis) Burkle of Lincoln, NE, and Denise (Dick) Benson of Tulsa, OK; two sons, David Bell, and Darin (Monica) Bell all of Jenks, OK.; 10 grandchildren, Jessica (Rod) Schulz, Lincoln, NE; Matthew (Allison) Benson, Tulsa, OK; Andrew (Becca) Benson, Chicago, IL; Joshua (Megan) Burkle, Lincoln, NE; Jenny (Trung) Tran, Tulsa, OK; Erin (Zach) Runcie, Hastings, NE; Zach (Megan Corney) Burkle, Lincoln, NE; Sarah Bell, Seattle, WA; Bekah (Matt) Swing, Chicago, IL; Rachel Bell, Stillwater, OK.; 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don; and sister, Wilma Schmidt.

Cremation was chosen. Memorial Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the Sheridan Methodist church in Sheridan, Iowa. Inurnment will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the Oakland Mills Cemetery near Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
