IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Douglas J
Lamberty
January 6, 1952 – November 12, 2025
Douglas John Lamberty, age 73, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Linden Court surrounded by his family.
Doug was born January 6, 1952, in Lake City, Iowa, to Joseph and Joyce (Schaeffer) Lamberty.
Doug graduated from North Platte High School in 1970. Shortly after, he joined the Navy. After his service, he returned home, where he met and married the love of his life, Cathy Dillon. They were wed on April 7, 1973, and to this union was born their beloved daughters Aimee and Mandy. Doug worked diligently for 39 years at Union Pacific Railroad, ending his career as an engineer when he retired in 2012.
Even when he wasn't working, Doug was never one to stay idle. He had a great many hobbies, including making rosaries, palm crosses, woodworking, volunteering for the church, and enjoying nature. Working on his garden and lawn were also his passion. He consistently had the best lawn on the block, although he faced some stiff competition from his sister. He was also an avid sports fan, and could often be found cheering on the Huskers, Dallas Cowboys, and Atlanta Braves. Doug loved to read, go on walks, and was an avid bike rider, he rode to Grand Island and was in many bike races. However, his greatest passion and the loves of his life were always his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids. He always lit up whenever they came over and he got to take them to the park or cheer them on at their school events. He leaves them with many fond memories as he goes to watch over the from above.
Those left to cherish Doug's memory are his wife Cathy; daughters Aimee (Wade) Petray and Mandy (Mike) Vargas; grandchildren Brandon (Krissy) Petray, Alyson (Dylan) Petray, Adrian Vargas, and Maverick Vargus; great-grandchildren Oaklynn and Blaise; siblings Sue Delosh, Wayne (Mary) Lamberty, Pam (Jim) Long, Patty Lamberty, and Nyla (Dale) Walker; brother-in-law Mike (Donna) Dillon; sisters-in-law Jan Dillon and Kathy Dillon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Joe and Joyce; parents-in-law L.W. and Judy Dillon; and siblings-in-law Kent Delosh, Larry and Margaret Dillon, Butch Dillon, and Don and Gloria Piper, Jodi Dillon.
