Duane Dunbar, age 90, of North Platte, died October 19, 2024 at Great Plains Health.  Duane was born on January 9, 1934 in Elwood, NE to Earl and Esther Dunbar.

Duane grew up in Elwood, NE and graduated from Elwood High School in 1951.  On October 19, 1952, he married Beth Swanson in Elwood.  The couple lived in Elwood for two years before moving to North Platte where Duane hired out with the Union Pacific Railroad as a diesel mechanic.  He continued his career until retiring in 1986 as a foreman.

Duane attended the First Lutheran Church for many years and was a member of the Elks Club, where he and Beth enjoyed dancing.  Duane also enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Beth of North Platte; two children, Becky (Jim) Leininger of Aurora, NE, and Dan (Becky) Dunbar of Wisner, NE; 10 grandchildren, Ben, Josh, Laura, Brandon, Heather, Devin, Drew, Michelle, Neil, and Cameron; great grandchildren, Molly, Max, Michael, Kyra, Blakely, Brylee, Emma, Harrison, Olivia, Dylan; and several other family members and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Kelly Morris; a son Craig Dunbar; and two sisters, Delores and Eleanor.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday November 2, 2024 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Patrick Sipes officiating. Burial will be at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday, November 1, 2024 from 12p.m. until 7 p.m. at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, which is entrusted with the arrangements.
