Obituary

Edward James Marquette, 83 of North Platte, NE passed away October 11, 2026. He was born on November 20, 1943, to Lawrence and Mary Catherine Marquette.

Ed graduated from St. Pat’s High School in 1961 then attended St. Benedict’s College and the St. Thomas Seminary. This was not the path for him, so he joined the Navy. While serving in Providence, Rhode Island he met Kathy, the love of his life and wife of 58 years. They came back to North Platte where he spent the next 33 years working as an electrician for the Union Pacific Railroad. While raising a family he spent his time with friends, shot pool for the Eagles Club, and made music all the way. After retiring Ed joined the Flatrock Irregulars, North Platte’s Premier Irish Band and made more music for 18 years. Ed was known for his sense of humor and liked and respected by anyone who knew him. His passion for music and sense of humor will be missed.

Ed was preceded in death by his wife Kathy Marquette, daughter Melanie Marquette, and his parents.

Ed is survived by his daughter Denise (Mike) Munson, son Larry (Amanda) Marquette, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, brother John Marquette of San Diego, CA, sister Ann Milton of North Platte and niece Yolanda Milton of Lincoln, NE.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at 12 pm on Friday, October 16, 2026, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery where he will be interred with his loving wife.

Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
