Gary Dale Kaps, 63, of Ogallala, passed away February 4, 2021, at Great Plains Health. He was born April 7, 1957 to Merle and Irene Mary (Francil) Kaps, in Toledo, Oregon.

Gary grew up in Ogallala, Nebraska and graduated from Ogallala High School. After graduation he entered the United States Army and then enlisted in the United States Navy and served another enlistment. After his discharge he moved to Ogallala and married Emeren Canido in May of 1979. To this union two children were born Michael and Emeren.

He worked for Boeing for several years, then got into the road construction business, working currently for Paulsen's. He was a baseball umpire in his early days. He enjoyed golfing, was the "Best" pool player, won the 2017 Nebraska Pavers Fantasy Football Championship and multiple NASCAR and golf championships. And, finally a Four-time and defending Paulsen Invitation Golf Champion.

Survivors include his two children, Michael Kaps, Lincoln, Nebraska, and Emeren (Shana) Kaps, Seattle, Washington; seven grandchildren, Emeren, Ciana, Brighton, Palin, Andrew, Fish and Colton; sister, Sharon Davis of Kentucky and brother, Ronald Kaps, of Brule, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his father, Merle; mother, Irene; and brother Denny.

Cremation was chosen with graveside services to be held at a later date. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
