Gertrude "Trudy" A
Hazlett

Adams & Swanson Funeral Home
Starts at 2:00 pm (Central time)
Gertrude “Trudy” A. Hazlett, age 85, of Sutherland, Nebraska, passed away October 8, 2026, at Adept Nursing and Rehab in Sutherland. She was born November 9, 1940, to Harold and Elsie (Gooder) Hazlett in Norton, Kansas.
Trudy spent her younger years in Norton before her family moved to Benkelman, NE. There she spent her young adult years, graduating from Imperial High School in Imperial, NE. After graduating, Trudy moved around with her sister, Linda, and the pair settled in North Platte. There she worked a brief stint at a furniture store before moving on to work as a caregiver, nurses' aide, and housekeeper for many years.
Trudy and Linda were inseparable throughout their lives. They often crafted together, and were especially keen on making Christmas decorations and set-ups before going out to see everyone else’s lights and decorations. They collected stamps together, decorated graves at Fort McPherson National Cemetery and Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, and attended Valley Christian Church faithfully. Trudy loved Jeopardy, often making sure to schedule appoints so she wouldn’t miss an episode. She also loved her dogs and homemade soup. But most of all, Trudy loved the Lord and now goes on to be with him in paradise.
Those left to cherish Trudy’s memory are her sister-in-law Helen Elizabeth Hazlett, and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Harold and Elsie Hazlett, her brothers Charles and Eugene Hazlett, and her sister Linda Hazlett.
A funeral service will be held Friday, October 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for future designation.
