Harold Frederick Reitz, age 83 passed away on November 30, 2023 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, Nebraska. He was born on November 29, 1940 at Sutherland, Nebraska to Henry and Mae Reitz, the oldest of 5 children.
He grew up in the Sutherland - Ogallala area where the family raised sugar beets. He graduated from Ogallala High School. He enlisted in the Army in December of 1958 and served in Berlin, Germany. After being discharged from duty, he returned to Ogallala and worked at the Chevrolet Garage.
Harold married Catherine (Cassie) Fuller, daughter of Herbert and Rose Dale Fuller on August 22, 1963 at St. Lukes Catholic Church in Ogallala. To this union 3 children, Gregory, Kelly, and Theodore were born. Harold attended several colleges, receiving several degrees including one in criminal justice. He served as a Reserve Deputy in Keith County for 10 years. The family moved to Arizona and returned to Nebraska settling in North Platte. He enjoyed fishing, "memory trips" and the family.
Survivors include wife Cassie, sons Gregory and Theodore (Kristy) and daughter Kelly; brother Dave (Beth) of Omaha; sister, Suzanne (Lonney) Nielsen, Minden; brothers-in-law, James (Barbara), Lincoln, Arnold (Barbara), Tucson, Arizona, Charles (Carole), Fort Morgan, Colorado; 17 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; along with many cousins and close neighborhood friends and special friends.
Preceding his death were his parents; parents-in-law; brothers, Norman (Jean), Walter; 3 great-grandchildren.
Cremation was chosen.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, April, 19, 2024 at Holy Spirit Church, North Platte, Nebraska with Rev. Vidya Sagar Arikotla officiating. Inurnment will follow mass at Paxton Cemetery, Paxton, Nebraska.
Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of assisting the family with arrangements.
