Irene Antoinette Romero, age 71 of North Platte, passed away Friday February 27, 2015.
Irene was born on March 1, 1943 in Denver, CO to Pecomio and Stella (Martinez) Lujan. She grew up in Denver and graduated from high school there. After graduation she married Rudy E. Romero in Denver and to this union 5 children were born Renea, Patricia, Roy, Valerie and Desiree. She worked at the Denver Post for many years. The family moved to Las Vegas and lived there for several years before moving to North Platte in July of 2007. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an excellent cook, well known for her green chili, tortillas and enchiladas.
Irene is survived by her husband Rudy of North Platte; 3 children Renea (Jose) Gutierrez of Las Vegas, Valerie (James) Howell of North Platte, Desiree (Cesar) Torres of North Platte; 11 grandchildren Vanessa (Josh) Govenor and Alexandra Gutierrez of Las Vegas, Rudy Romero of California, Sara Romero, Lillian Romero, and Juan Carrillo all of Denver, Brandon (Kristi) Howell, Josh Howell, Jeff Howell, Cesar Torres and Nicole Torres all of North Platte; 1 great grandson Karter Govenor of Las Vegas; siblings Lorainne (Richard) Romero of Denver, Linda Maynes of Las Vegas, Zeke Lujan, Louis Lujan, Teresa Lujan and Ricky Lujan all of Denver; sister-in-law, Linda Baca of Denver, CO; as well as other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 children Patricia Romero and Roy Romero; siblings Bob Lujan, Com Lujan, Del Lujan, Shiela Lujan and Lee Lujan.

Cremation was chosen. Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Harvest Christian Fellowship with Pastor Jacob Rahrig officiating. Burial will follow at the North Platte Cemetery. Those wishing to sign the register book may do so 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
