Jane Gress, 80, of North Platte, passed away at her home on February 8, 2022.  She was born on August 29, 1941 in Gothenburg to Donald and Elsie (Allen) Joy.

At a young age, the family moved to North Platte where Jane grew up.  She graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1959.  After high school, Jane worked as a secretary for a short time before starting her career in the cafeteria at the North Platte High School as well as working as a custodian for the First Presbyterian Church in North Platte.  Jane married Charles Gress on April 31, 1975.  She had two children, Brad and Melissa.

Jane was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for many years.  She enjoyed playing the piano as well as the organ.  She liked to knit and needle point.  Jane was known as a very simple woman, finding pleasures and joy in day-to-day activities.

Surviving Jane are her children, Brad Gress of North Platte, Melissa Gray of Chesterfield, VA; grandchildren, Brianna and Emmitt Gray; and brother, Lyle Joy of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; and parents, Donald and Elsie.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 2 P.M. at North Platte Cemetery with Pastor Jeremy Rinke officiating.  A book signing will be Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 9-5 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in care of arrangements.
