Obituary

Jane Ann Taylor, age 79, of North Platte, passed away July 8, 2012. She was born October 11, 1932 in Falls City, Ne to George and Blanche Montague Rieger.
Jane graduated from Falls City High School and then attended Peru State Teachers College. She taught at Central City for a year and then married Bernie Taylor August 9, 1953 in Falls City. The couple moved to Omaha where Jane taught school for four years while her husband was in medical school. They later moved to North Platte where Bernie practiced medicine and Jane stayed home to raise her family.
Jane was a member of the First Christian Church, was very active in many organizations which included President of the Goodfellow Shoe Fund, Miss Nebraska Organization, Lincoln County Medical Auxiliary, Campfire Girls, Great Plains Medical Center Gift shop manager, was active in the Community Playhouse Guild, and was the Legislative Community President of the American Medical Auxiliary. Jane logged more than 25,000 volunteer hours at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. She also was named Lady of the Year by Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in 1985 and was awarded Admiral in the Nebraska Navy by Governor Mike Johanns. She donated many hours of her time and talent to the citizens in Lincoln County and to the Heart Instution Bryan LGH.
She is survived by her husband, Bernie Taylor, M.D. of North Platte; children, Deborah (Tim) Budin, Mike (Nancy) Taylor and Mark (Gail) Taylor; grandchildren, Katie, Sarah & Emily Taylor, Christopher & Elizabeth Budin, Josh & Nathan Taylor and Andra (Aric) Berhow; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Taylor and Ellie and Audrey & Aiden Berhow; sister-in-law, Marilyn Davenport of Topeka, KS; sister, Nancy (Edward) Boehme; and a brother, Paul (Veronica) Rieger.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter, Janie.

Graveside Memorial Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the North Platte Cemetery with the Reverend Tim Adams officiating. Those wishing to sign the register book may do so from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
