Jerry was born on July 28, 1935 to Christina Engleman in Bayard, NE.  He lived in Minitare, NE with his aunt Betty Fry until moving to North Platte to live with his grandparents.  He attended North Platte Public School and later earned his GED while in the Navy.  In 1954 he enlisted in the US Navy and served for 24 years, traveling the world.  He retired in 1978 as a Senior Chief.  In 1960 Jerry married Tamako "Tammy" Dewa in Japan.  To this union 2 children were born, Christina and Fredrick.  In 1980 Jerry returned to North Platte to be close to his family.  He worked for North Platte Public Schools in the maintenance department and doing electrical work.  The school approached him about running the janitorial department and he formed Blue and Gold Cleaning Services Inc.  He completely retired from work in 1998.  Jerry was a member of the Prairie Lake Boat Club, serving as president for a number of years, and a member of the Fleet Reserve Assoc. (F.R.A.)  He enjoyed boating, fishing, garage sales, and being with his family at the Lake Maloney cabin.  He was an avid Husker fan and also enjoyed going to Cody Park for ice cream and watching the animals, playing Yahtzee, Farkle, pitch and cribbage. He will be remembered as a caring family man.  "Go Navy!"
