IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John
Serrano
November 16, 1942 – March 23, 2025
John "Juan" Serrano, age 82, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Centennial surrounded by family and loved ones. John was born November 16, 1942, to Gregorio and Leonarda (de la Cruz) Serrano in New Braunfels, Texas.
He grew up in New Braunfels with his family, enjoying his childhood and working on the family farm. When he was a young adult, he earned his Mechanic Certification and began a career in mechanics. As he grew older, his pride in his country compelled him to join the United States Army in 1964, where he proudly served his country for three years before coming back to continue his work as a mechanic. He worked for many years at many different jobs, including working for Joe Dye's automotive shop, John Deere Tractors, and the Chevrolet dealership, before finally settling in to work at the Union Pacific Railroad. There he worked till he retired.
Even outside of work, John's passion for cars, especially Chevy's, led to many pet projects working on cars. He loved all things Chevy, with specific care for Impalas, Corvettes, and Monte Carlos. He was also an avid watcher of Days of Our Lives, never missing a morning viewing even when he'd stayed up all night. He also loved animals, always spoiling his cat Javier and frequently receiving knocks on his door from local squirrels who he would hand-feed.
Those left to cherish John's memory are his sons John Serrano Jr., Craig Serrano, and Paul Serrano, and many other family and friends.
Proceeding him in death are his parents; wife, Mary Jane; siblings, Josephine Serrano, Joe Serrano, Vincent Serrano, Willie Layos, Antonia Cochran, Nicky Arellano, Maria Serrano, George Serrano, Tony Serrano, Leonard Serrano and Felicitas Serrano.
