Jolene M.
Jimenez
Jan 15, 1954 — May 27, 2026
Jolene (Jody) Marie Jimenez (Lauer), 72, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 15, 1954, in Julesburg, Colorado to the late John and Helen Lauer (Sanger), Jody attended elementary school in Ovid, Colorado and graduated from Revere Senior High School in 1972. She worked for 34 years as a Dietary Aid at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte. She had a strong work ethic and was a valued employee.
On April 28, 1973, Jody married Herman (Sonny) Jimenez at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Julesburg, Colorado. The couple initially lived in Colorado after they were married and this is where their first daughter, Sonia, was born. In the late 1970’s they moved to North Platte, NE where they had their second daughter, Monica, and then a son, Tony. They lived and raised their three children in North Platte.
Jody was a devoted mother to her three children and grandmother to her three grandsons. She attended as many of her kids and grandkids activities as she could. She was their avid cheerleader and ever proud of their accomplishments and milestones. She loved spending time with her family and was an active grandmother. She never missed a chance to take her grandsons bowling, to a movie, to play catch, shoot hoops, or play games of their choosing. She loved going on trips with her family, enjoying especially trips with her daughters to Washington DC and Nashville, and those with the family (grandkids included) to Disney World, Black Hills, and Wisconsin Dells. Jody always had a smile to share, and she didn’t miss a chance to let her family know how much she loved them.
Jody was known for being a very kind and caring person often putting others before herself. She frequently remembered others by sending cards or kind messages. She was also known for remembering important dates, her sense of humor, and willingness to listen and help others. She loved sports, music, dancing, going for daily walks outside or at The Mall, exercising at Curves and lunches with friends and family. She valued the conversations she had with the people she cared about.
She is survived by her husband Sonny, of 53 years, her daughter Sonia (Jeff) Bly of Marshall, MN, daughter Monica Seidel of North Liberty, IA and son Tony Jimenez of North Platte; her three grandsons Jack Bly of Minneapolis, MN, Ethan Bly of Marshall, MN and Teagan Seidel of North Liberty, IA, her brothers Rob (Carol) Lauer, Mike (Brenda) Lauer, Greg Lauer and sisters Susie Gretch, and Lori (Mike) Stang; brothers-in-law Pepe Jimenez, Bernie (Lillian) Jimenez, and sister-in-law Tina (Joe) Jimenez, mother-in-law Tome Arroyo and many nieces and nephews that she loved.
