Josephine Orvela Summers, age 87 of North Platte passed away Tuesday July 11, 2017 at her home.
Jo was born on April 4, 1930 in Dickens, NE to Edwin Orville and Sylvia Alice (Jensen) Guy. She graduated from North Platte High School in 1949 and married Asa Blaine Summers in 1951. To their union, Debra and David were born. She worked as an LPN in Colorado and at various other jobs in Nebraska, and eventually settled back in North Platte. She continued working into her 80s in housekeeping at the Oak Tree Inn. She enjoyed fishing with her son David, traveling and baking, and had a fondness for animals, especially cats. She was a very giving person with a strong stubborn streak!
Jo is survived by her children Debra (Dale Middleton) Johnston of North Platte, and David Summers; grandchildren Cynthia (Billy) Strate of Alton, IL, Rachael Burke of North Platte, Amber Summers and Falon Summers both of Lincoln, NE; 6 great grandchildren; as well as other extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Sylvia Guy; and brother Robert Guy.
Cremation was chosen and family led services will be held at a later date. Adams and Swanson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
