IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Judy A
Grimes
December 14, 1943 – March 12, 2025
Judy Ann Grimes of North Platte, Nebraska entered eternal rest on March 12, 2025 at the age of 81. Judy was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many.
Judy was born to Ann and Paul Farnstrom on December 14, 1943 in Gothenburg, Nebraska. Judy had 4 older brothers: Lloyd Farnstrom, Roy Farnstrom, Charles Farnstrom, and Dale Farnstrom.
At 18 years old, Judy married the love of her life, Gary Grimes of North Platte, Nebraska, on August 26, 1962. Judy and Gary had met at a carnival in Gothenburg with the help of a few friends, and the rest was history. After their wedding, they lived in Denver, Omaha, North Platte, and eventually settled in Broken Bow to raise their family. Together they had 3 children: Randall Grimes of Wickenburg AZ, Mark Grimes and wife Linda Grimes of Santa Clara CA, and Kimberly Grimes and significant other Nino Nastasi of Omaha NE. They enjoyed their 3 grandchildren: Matthew Grimes of Mountain View CA, Megan Befus and husband Nathaniel Befus of Loveland CO, and Rachel Caravan. After retirement, Judy and Gary returned to North Platte to be near family and friends. They enjoyed spending winters in Brenda, Arizona and many adventures during their 62 years of marriage.
Judy loved cooking and baking, and was well known for her delicious meals and baked goods. Her famous chocolate chip brownies were frequently requested for family potlucks and holidays. Judy also enjoyed playing card games. She spent many hours over the years belonging to card clubs and playing games with family, especially while camping. Judy and Gary were avid campers and spent many weekends at Lake Maloney and Lake McConaughy. Judy was also well known for her many crafts, especially knitting and crocheting. She made countless afghans and slippers for her loved ones and always had a stash of yarn ready for the next project. Judy was also an expert level Sudoku player and enjoyed word searches.
