Obituary

Karen K. Conley, born on October 26, 1939, in Arnold, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, at Linden Court. She was a warm and welcoming person who always had a kind word for everyone she met. Karen’s life was marked by simple joys and meaningful connections.

Karen attended a country school through the 8th grade in Hoaglund, Nebraska, and then went on to Baker Rural High School in Stapleton, where she graduated in 1958. Her education laid the foundation for a life filled with love for family, friends, and community.

One of Karen’s closest companions was her dog, Jacki. The two shared many moments together, and Jacki was a constant presence in Karen’s life. A lover of flowers, Karen took great pride in her beautiful garden. In 2009, her efforts were recognized when she was honored with the "Yard of the Month" award. Flowers brought her happiness—even though sometimes they made her sneeze!

Karen’s favorite things included little children, pets and animals, family friends, greeting cards, green tomato pie, and, naturally, flowers. These simple pleasures filled her days with joy and kept her connected to those around her.

Her faith was important to her. Karen was baptized in 1993 at the Hope Baptist Church in Sutherland. She remained a member of the First Baptist Church in Gothenburg until the end of her life.

Karen is survived by her siblings Alvin “Al” Conley, Elaine (Bob) Black, and Dennis (Kathy) Conley, as well as several nieces and nephews who remember her fondly. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Milford and Wayne Conley, and sisters-in-law Kay and Sharon; niece, Doralie Ann Black.
