It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Karen Sue Richards, of North Platte, NE on April 3 2023, at the age of 81 years.
Karen was born on May 31 st , 1941 in Brighton, CO to William and Francis Clifton. She attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church and school in Ogallala, NE. After school she entered the work force and started her family shortly after. Karen loved her family deeply. Some of her favorite times were when most of the family was able to get together. She especially loved her Christmas shopping trip every year with her four daughters.
Karen married the love of her life, Douglas, on October 17 th , 1973. They would have celebrated their 50 th wedding anniversary this year. Dad loved spoiling mom right up to the end. He gave her a necklace just days before her passing. Mom was a giver too. She absolutely loved giving gifts as was evident during Christmas time.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Douglas, of nearly 50 years; children: Allan (Annie) Hottovy of Nashville TN, Mike (Deb) Hottovy of Geneva OH, Jackie (Josh) Whisler of Peru NE, Randy (and the late Chris) Hottovy of Elgin IL, Toni (Jeff) Bomberger of Curtis NE, Teresa (Kevin) Hafer of North Platte NE, and Michelle (Terry) Myers of Cheyenne WY; brother, Bob (Jean) Raney of Overton NE, sister, Nancy (Catalino) Vasquez of Sutherland NE; brother-in-laws, Charles (Kathy) Richards of CO, Skip (Iola) Richards of Torrington WY, Randy Richards of Lyman, NE; sister-in-laws, Kim (Greg) Schmidt of Torrington WY; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren as well as numerous relatives and friends.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Francis & William Clifton, son Terry Hottovy, brother Kenneth Clifton, sisters Patty Clifton and Donna Waters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to American Legion Post 208. Online condolences and livestreaming of the service may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com .
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at the Grace Lutheran Church, Sutherland, Nebraska with Pastor Teresa Morland officiating. Inurnment will follow the service at 1:00 P.M. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska. Book signing will be from 9:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 11, at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.
