Katherine "Katie" Wells, 92, of Oklahoma departed peacefully from this world on October 1, 2018 at the home of her daughter, Susan (Scott) Furrow of Wellfleet.

Katie entered this world on October 3, 1925 the daughter of Harry D. and Katherine (Freeman) Moffatt in Chillicothe, TX. She was raised in Atoka, OK.

Katie was a loving mother, dedicated public servant, and successful entrepreneur. She raised a family, worked for years as the clerk of Atoka County, and started a medical billing company that was one of the first in the nation to utilize computer automation.

In the 1960's Katie moved to Edmond, OK where she made many friends and became a contributor to many charitable organizations, in addition to her vocations, she loved spending time with her husband Scott and working on a ranch in Southeastern Oklahoma. She passed many a pleasant hour there fishing, hiking, and working in her garden. She had a remarkable green thumb and her garden and lawn were always bountiful and beautiful. After her husband's retirement, she had the opportunity to travel the world, enjoy life, and marvel at the world's wonders. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, Edmond, OK. In her later years Katie moved to North Platte, NE where she enjoyed living on a farm with her daughter, Susan and husband, Scott. Her last days were spent with the people, and in a place she dearly loved. She will be remembered for her grace, her generosity, her wisdom, and her kindness.

Survivors include her daughter Susan (Scott) Furrow of Wellfleet, NE; son, John Wells of Kansas City, KS; grandchildren, Josh Boyles of Castle Rock, CO, Audrey and Olivia Wells both of Tulsa, OK who will miss her loving presence.

She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Scott; four sisters; and a brother.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. October 4, 2018 at the Atoka Cemetery near Atoka, OK. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte are in charge of local arrangements.
