Starts at 10:00 am (Mountain time)
Kenneth C. Lierley departed this life on August 20, 2026, to go spend time with his Lord and Savior. He was born in North Platte, NE, on July 6, 1949, to Archie K. and Joyce D. (Miank) Lierley. He grew up on the family farm south of Paxton. He graduated from Paxton High School in 1967 and then graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture in 1967, then spent the rest of his life on the farm.
He married Katherine D. Waibel on January 22, 1972. She passed away on January 21, 2016. During this time, they enjoyed raising their children with school events, camping, and vacationing to several states. Later they enjoyed taking cruises to different parts of the world. Early in his life, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. When he was home from the farm, Ken enjoyed his quiet time gardening and woodworking. His life entailed serving on the Paxton School Board, Ogallala Hospital Board, Midwest Electric Board, CRA Board (Community Redevelopment Authority), and Paxton Rural Cemetery Board. He was a charter member of the Paxton Optimist Club and Paxton New Life Church. He served as church treasurer for 23 years and on the council several times. He was also a life time member of the Ogallala Elks Club.
He continued to travel the world with his special friend Bonnie. He was able to have gone to over 60 countries on six continents. All of this would not have been possible if he had not found (WITH STRONG ENCOURAGMENT FROM KATHY) the Program of Alcoholics Anonymous in 1982 and continued to be a member since then.
Preceding him in death was his grandparents, parents, and his wife.
Ken is survived by his daughter Janice (Brian) Neilsen; son Casey (Joclie) Lierley; grandsons Justin Neilsen, Clay (Tatum) Neilsen, Kyle Neilsen, Gannon (Savannah) Lierley, and Xander Lierley; great-grandchildren Peyton and Lukas Neilsen; special lady friend Bonnie Young; brother Fred Lierley; step-son Rob (Ruby) Waibel and step-granddaughter Jordan; sisters-in-law Donna Allen and Sharon Shockley; and many more cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held Monday, August 24, 2026, at 10 a.m. Mountain Time at the Lierley Shop (1995 Road East 50, Paxton, NE 69155) with Pastor Mark Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow at Paxton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Paxton Food Pantry and Optimist Scholarship Fund. Condolences and expressions of sympathy may be shared at adamsswanson.com.
