LaVern Frank Ehlers, age 88, of North Platte, died June 30, 2023 at Centennial Park Retirement Village.  He was born on January 7, 1935 in Moorefield, NE to William and Rosa (Gygax) Ehlers. In his early years, he attended Moorefield Bethel School.  He later worked on the family farm and for neighbor farms before moving to Curtis where he worked as a plumber.

In Curtis, he also worked at Watkins Products.  LaVern then moved to North Platte, where he worked for the State of Nebraska for 5 years.  He then hired out on the Union Pacific and worked for 25 ½ years, retiring in 2000.  He then went to work for Wal Mart and stayed on for three years.  LaVern married Thelma Mora on November 1, 1975 in North Platte.  He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Machinest Union.

Survivors include his wife Thelma of North Platte; a sister, Linda (Wenzel) Kahler of North Platte; and several other family members and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Laura Aufdenkamp; and two brothers, Lawrence and Lester.  Memorials are to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.  Online condolences and live stream can be found at adamsswanson.com.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday July 5, 2023 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Daniel Ramsey officiating.  Burial will be at the North Platte Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday July 3, 2023 from 12-7. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
