Lawrence A. "Larry" Nickel, 70, of Cozad, Nebraska passed away October 21, 2023 at Great Plains Health in North Platte, Nebraska.  He was born on May 15, 1953 in Camden, New Jersey to Nancy R. Reitz.

Larry graduated high school in Texas. After graduation he entered the US Army, serving in Korea on the 38th Parallel.  After his discharge, he returned to Mankato, Kansas working as a meat inspector.   He moved to Arkansas City, Kansas and then to Lexington, Nebraska to be a meat inspector at the IBP plant, where he retired.   Larry enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He always enjoyed meeting new people and he never knew a stranger.  Larry loved his daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren.  He had a special love for his dog Gator and classic rock and roll music.

Survivors include his mother, Nancy Reitz; daughter, Kayla (Brett) Davis, Lexington, Nebraska; grandchildren, Autumn Davis and Micah Davis; siblings, Barb Talbott, Brighton, Colorado, Mark (Gabby) Nickel, Fairbanks, Arkansas, Penny Monsma, Ocala, Florida, Becky Nickel, Brighton, Colorado, Tanna (Tom) Crumrine, Foley, Alabama; special friends, Dee Boltz and Kim Nemo; along with nieces, nephews and many friends.
