Leona "Onie" M. Greenlee, 90, of North Platte, passed away April 21, 2021 at her home. She was born on September 26, 1930 to Fred F. and Elizabeth M. (Podewitz) Arent in Stockville, NE.
Leona graduated from Stockville High School with the class of 1948. She married Kenneth Greenlee on December 13, 1954 in Fayetteville, AR. The couple made their home in North Platte but moved to Colorado for a short time and then returned to North Platte. Their most joyful day in their life was when they adopted their son Bill.
Leona worked for the County Assessor and continued to work there until the age of 70. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and fishing. Leona and Ken were original bikers, going to Sturgis in the 50's and traveling the country. They traveled to Hawaii, Mexico, and Europe. Leona loved dancing the waltz and polkas. She played cards in the Two Nickle Club and pinochle club. She crocheted stocking caps and baby blankets for the Salvation Army and hospital and made lap robes for the nursing homes.
Leona is survived by her grandchildren, Joshua (Leslie) Eskew of Brule, NE, Ashley (Brandon) Ehlers of Farnam, NE, Alisha Griesfeller of North Platte, NE, April Smith of Omaha; great grandchildren, Duane Eskew, Braxton Eskew, Adalen Ehlers, Haisley Ehlers, Colten Ehlers, Jahven Reyes, Jamai Reyes; daughter-in-law, Lyn Greenlee of North Platte, NE; sisters-in-law, Erma Greenlee of Spearfish, SD, Vi Greenlee of Columbia, MO, Nita (Kenny) Malleck of McCook, NE, Karen (Marion) Tatum of Lincoln, NE; brother-in-law, Tim (Lael) Greenlee of Gothenburg; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; son, Bill; siblings Leslie Arent, Cletus Arent, Fred Arent Jr., Clair Arent, Theadore Arent, Edna Kotschwar, Willa Mortimore, Beverly Johnson, Charlie Arent.

Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. Douglas Delp officiating. Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Visitation will be held noon-7:00 P.M., Monday, April 26, 2021 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements. The service will be livestreamed via the Adams & Swanson Facebook page for those unable to attend.
