Obituary

LeRoy Franklin Gray, 60, of North Platte passed away June 17, 2026 as a result of a motor vehicle accident. He was born June 1, 1966 to James and Connie (Berryman) Gray in Columbus, Georgia.

LeRoy grew up in the McCook/Henderson areas and graduated from North Platte High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1984-1991. He was assigned to Whidbey Isalnd and on the USS Ranger Air Craft Carrier as an A6 Intruder Maintenance. After his discharge, LeRoy moved back to North Platte, he worked at Hershey Flying Service then hired on Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer. He had been working for Adams Construction Company for the last 11 years.

LeRoy married Eva Cox in June of 1984 and to this union, four children were born, Leroy Jr., Elizabeth, Tamara, and Timothy. He married Peggy Gastineau on June 1, 2007. LeRoy loved his family, especially the grandkids, nieces, and nephews. He was just a big kid himself and loved camping and boating.

Survivors include mother, Connie Irvin of Brooklyn Park, MN; children, LeRoy (finace’ Micki) Gray Jr. of North Platte, Elizabeth (Brendan) Hathaway of North Platte, Travis Basile of North Platte, Robert Basile of North Platte, Tamara (Will) Hudson of Evansville, IN, Timothy (Faith) Gray of Lincoln; grandchildren, Xavier, Lariya, Adrian, Kealey, Karleigh, Kendyl, Sheahan, Blakely, Logan, Iris, Harper, and Oakley; siblings, Jim (Susan) Gray of Moorefield, Bryan (Christine) Herrick of Curtis, Becky Gray of North Platte, Laura Dwyer of Minnetonka, MN; numerous other family members and friends.

LeRoy was preceded in death by father James Gray; wife, Peggy Gray; grandmother, Rose Gray; grandchildren, Keirra and Kieran Hathaway; and uncle, John Gray.
