IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lora Gene
Dimitt
December 30, 1947 – March 18, 2026
Celebration of Life
Family led service held at La Casa Del Rios in North Platte.
Lora Gene Dimitt, née Alexander, passed away on March 18, 2026, in North Platte, Nebraska. Born on December 30, 1947, in Arnold, Nebraska, Lora lived a life rich with love, creativity, and a deep connection to the world around her.
From her earliest days growing up in North Platte, Lora displayed a spirited and artistic nature. She was not only talented and imaginative but also possessed a profound affection for animals, leading her to a career as a beloved dog groomer. Her gentle touch and unwavering care for the animals she worked with brought joy to many and created lasting bonds with their owners. Beyond her work, she was a woman of diverse passions—finding delight in hunting, home decorating, and expressing herself through various artistic pursuits.
Lora's personal life was marked by love and family. Her first marriage to Byron James was a union blessed with three children: Kevin, Teresa, and Daniel. In 2009, she found happiness again marrying Paul Dimitt, with whom she shared many joyful years, deeply treasuring the companionship and good life they nurtured together.
Throughout her journey, Lora’s spirit was supported and cherished by those closest to her. She is survived by her son Kevin James and his wife Becky of North Platte, and her daughter Teresa James, also of North Platte. Though her son Daniel James and grandson Patrick Sheets have passed on, Lora’s memory endures through her grandchildren—Steven Peterson, Sam Therin, Lynde James, Selena Trujillo, Linda Trujillo, Preston Sheets, and Allen James—as well as numerous great-grandchildren who carry forward her legacy of love. Family remains at the heart of Lora’s story, including her brother Jerry Alexander of North Platte, sister, Mary Alexander, special friend Brenda Tudor, and many other relatives and dear friends who were touched by her kindness and warmth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Louanna (Gilbert) Alexander, and her siblings Jan Hazen, Pat Alexander. Their memories are woven into the fabric of her life and the lives of those she leaves behind.
A Celebration of Life honoring Lora’s remarkable journey will be held on April 12, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., at La Casa Del Rios, located at 1911 East 4th Street, North Platte, NE 69101. This gathering will be a precious opportunity for all who knew her to remember her vibrant spirit, her artistic soul, and her boundless love for her family and her beloved animals.
