IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lowell "Pete"
Eldon Pyzer, Sr.
March 30, 1938 – August 22, 2023
Lowell Eldon "Pete" Pyzer Sr., age 85, passed away on August 22, 2023, at North Platte Care Center. On March 30, 1938, he was born to Lisle and Erma (Childerston) Pyzer in Tryon.
Pete was raised in the Sandhills of Nebraska, attending McPherson County High School and graduating with the class of 1955, the same year he met Lela Meyer. The couple was wed on December 9, 1956, in North Platte and brought four children into the world, Lowell "Butch" Jr., Lauri Ann, Lynn, and Layne.
The couple lived in Gothenburg, Broken Bow, and North Platte before settling in Tryon in 1971 where they raised their family and spent their lives together. In his younger years, Pete worked for Whitewater Ranch before working as a carpenter for Dowhower Construction and later Correll Construction. Eventually, he became the custodian for McPherson County School. Pete liked to tell everyone he was the "head custodian", the joke being that he was actually the only custodian. Pete and Lela also owned and operated the Longhorn Motel in Tryon for several years and were both members of the McPherson County Fire and Rescue for over 30 years, Pete holding the "President" title on the rural fire board.
Pete was a social man and no one disliked him. His morals were strong and filled with generosity. Pete, along with his wife, delivered meals to the elderly in the community and even transported several to North Platte for appointments. He was an outstanding carpenter and enjoyed woodworking in his spare time, as well as fishing (even though he wasn't very good at it). His grandkids learned all the words they shouldn't say from watching their grandpa watch Husker games, something he enjoyed thoroughly. Pete was strong in his Faith and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Tryon where he also helped maintain the lawn and do maintenance work.
Those left to remember Pete are his children, Lynn (Tina) Pyzer of North Platte, Layne (Marie) Pyzer of North Platte; daughter in law, Judy Pyzer of North Platte; grandchildren, Jacob (Bekka White) Pyzer of Curtis, Brandi Pyzer of North Platte, McKenzie (Logan) Dowse of Curtis, Tel (Danneeka) Pyzer of North Platte, Amber (Mitch) Tatman of Stapleton; great grandchildren, Paxton, Madi, Miles, Hayden, Hudson, Hadlynn, Heaton, Huckley, Abilene, Dalton, Raymond, Amelia; sister, Lila Stoddard; siblings in law, Phyllis Webster of Bellvue, Linda Cooper of North Platte, Richard Meyer of Alliance, Wesley Martin of North Platte, Joyce White, Rose Pyzer of California; numerous nieces and nephews, and other family members and friends.
