Lucita A. Goodnight, 100, of North Platte, passed away September 10, 2024 at Great Plains Health.  She was born October 29, 1923 to Catalino and Josephine (Perez) Vasquez in Garden City, Kansas the first of nine siblings.

Lucita spent her childhood years living in Sutherland.  She married Paul Goodnight and they lived in various places in Nebraska and Colorado.  On her 100th birthday, her friend took her to see the Elvis show in North Platte and they sang Happy Birthday to her.  Lucita was very proud of her family heritage and the founding of the Goodnight Trail.

Lucita is survived by brothers, Cat Vasquez of Sutherland, Vern Vasquez of Cheyenne; numerous other family members and friends.

Preceding her in death are parents, Catalino and Josephine; husband, Paul.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sutherland.  Rosary will be held at 10:00 A.M. before the service.  Burial will follow at Fort McPherson near Maxwell.  Visitation will be held noon-5:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
