Luz "Mona" Layton, age 62 of North Platte, passed away Thursday September 24, 2015 at Great Plains Health with her nieces by her side.
Mona was born on December 26, 1952 in North Platte to Jesus and Epifania (Hernandez) Ramirez. She graduated from North Platte High School in 1972 and worked at Great Plains Health. She was a wonderful caregiver to her mother. She loved to read and watch Nebraska football. We send a special thanks to her friends at Wagner's Cenex where she spent much time.
Mona is survived by 8 siblings, Gen Sharp of Grand Island, Dan (Minerva) Lopez of Houston, TX, Mary (Jerry) Atkins of Houston, TX, Esther Shepherd of Grand Island, Jesse (Kelli Williams) Ramirez of Lawton, OK, Robert Ramirez of San Antonio, TX, Judy (Tony) Ponce of Lincoln, Joe (Eileen McBride) Ramirez of Omaha; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Louie Lopez; and brother in law Dennis Shepherd.
Memorials are suggested to Bethel Evangelical Free Church and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com. Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday September 29, 2015 at Bethel Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Andy Pull officiating. Inurnment will follow at North Platte Cemetery. Adams and Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
