Marla Jean Bain (Simmons), age 66, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away on September 9, 2024 after a very difficult year of fighting cancer. Born on Thanksgiving Day November 28, 1957, she was a vibrant spirit who lived her life to the fullest and loved the hardest.

Marla was truly lovely. She was a tad eccentric, incredibly strong and positive, always ready to dance through any pain or difficulties and extend a helping hand to those around her. She loved to take a walk down memory lane and have a photo shoot for any occasion. Known for her role as an incredible mother and "Glamma," her love and spirited nature left a lasting impact on her family and friends.

She leaves behind ex-husband and best friend Patrick Bain, her son Adam McMurtry and his wife Melissa, her daughter Taylor Bain and cherished grandchildren; Paige (10), Hannah (7), and Atlas (2). She is also survived by her brothers, Jimmy (Donna), Stuart (Carolyn), Keith (Jan), and Lou (Michelle) along with numerous nieces & nephews. Marla was preceded in death by her parents, Warren & Phyllis, and Phyliss' 2nd husband Bill Burton.

A celebration of Marla's life will be held at the Moose Lodge on September 29th at 12 PM. This gathering will honor her memory and the joyful life she shared with all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Goodfellow Shoe Fund, a cause close to Marla's heart.  Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
