Mary Delores "Dee" Peckman, 98, of North Platte, Nebraska, died January 9, 2021 at Linden Court in North Platte. Dee was born June 19, 1922 to Henry and Mary Agnes (Moore) Wiest, in Hazard, NE.
She graduated from Hazard High School and attended St. Francis School of Nursing. Dee worked as a nanny in Lincoln, NE and later moved to Kearney, NE., where she worked at the telephone office and Sears and Roebucks. While living in Kearney Dee met Harold "Barney" Peckman at Bingo. They were married on February 5, 1948 in Kearney. They resided there until 1955 when they moved to North Platte, NE. Dee enjoyed staying home and raising her family before going back to work as a bookkeeper for Sixth Street Food Stores for 25 years. She was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church and BPOE Does.
Family was the center of Dee's life. She especially loved and enjoyed her grandchildren.
Dee is survived by her children; Barbara (Lynn) Cordell, Hastings, NE., Diana (Michael) Halverson, North Platte, NE., Michael (Gina) Peckman, Easton, WA., grandchildren; Cory (Antoinette) Halverson, North Platte, NE., Gabe (Kara) Cordell, Bennington, NE., Tish Halverson, North Platte, NE., Carissa (Brian) Deeds, North Platte, NE., Kasey (Cody) Halverson, Omaha, NE., Myles (Jenna) Peckman, Roanoke, VA., Mikaela (Steven) Souza, Woodenville, WA., Morgan (Tyler) Finneseth Phoenix, AZ., and sister; Lareen Jacobson, North Platte, NE., special family friend; Sr. Carole Wakefield, Grand Island, NE., numerous other family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Henry and Mary Wiest, husband; Barney, brothers; Milford and Harlan Wiest, Fr. Robert Wiest.
Memorial are suggested to Holy Spirt Catholic Church. Online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com.
Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 15, 2021 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Father Vidya Sagar as Celebrant. Burial will follow the service at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, NE. Visitation will be noon – 7:00 P.M., Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home.
Services will be held following all current health directives regarding COVID-19. The service will be livestreamed via Adams & Swanson Facebook page for those that are unable to attend. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
