Obituary

Mary Jane Hall, 84, of North Platte passed away August 13, 2023 at Great Plains Health.

Mary Jane was born January 8, 1939 in Hastings, NE to James W. and Beverly Jane (Herrin) Martin.  She grew up in Chappell, graduating in 1957.  She went to Colorado Women's College and then to Parks Business School in Denver.

On November 29, 1958 she married Richard "Dick" Hall in Chappell at the Methodist Church.  The couple lived in Lincoln while Dick finished college.  Mary Jane worked as a para in the Legislature, worked for the central accounting with the state, and for the probation office.  They moved to Dewitt, NE, then to Julesburg while she worked for a law firm.  The couple also lived in Ogallala where she worked at TRW in accounting, New Jersey, where she worked for Mr. Sandman Furniture and Jefferson Township School System. The couple moved to North Platte, where she was a secretary for the superintendent of schools, Chamber of Commerce, and then as a bookkeeper for Swans Furniture.  She enjoyed cooking, especially cinnamon rolls and pies.

Mary Jane loved retiring in 2003 to Lake McConaughy and entertaining.  She was known at the lake for feeding everyone that came in the door. Mary Jane loved to watch Lisa's sporting events, was a member of PEO Chapter EB where she was a 66-year member, and was active in the Frontier Revue.  Family was the center of her life, serving as a caregiver for everyone.

Survivors include her husband, Dick Hall of North Platte; two daughters, Lisa (Susanne Graham) Hall of Phoenix, AZ and Melody Jane Hall of Oshkosh, Nebraska;  brother, Barry (Barbara) Martin of Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Susan (Herschel) Beveridge of North Platte; nieces and nephews, Kelly (Larry) Felix of Colorado Springs, CO, James (Monet) Martin also of Colorado Springs, CO, Samuel Beveridge of Centennial, CO, And Thomas (Kelly) Beveridge of North Platte; numerous other family members; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her in-laws, Floyd and Zelma Hall.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Garden County Regional West Nursing Home or to the donor's choice.

Cremation was chosen.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.  Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
